Treats (Bringing food to school for events)
A note about treats in school for special events and celebrations in our school:
We are trying to move towards a healthy way of life and are open to treats that are not necessarily brownies, cookies, or cupcakes. Some families are being creative and are making small yogurt snacks, fruit kabobs, or rice krispie treats! The tradition of bringing small cupcakes to school is still popular.
Before you order cupcakes, bake cupcakes, buy baked goods, or make ANY treat for an event in school we ask that all items are brought to the school nurse so the ingredients can be checked. Please be mindful that there are students with allergies or health conditions that prevent certain items from being consumed. We want to make sure that all of our students are safe before food is brought into the school. (As an aside, you might want to contact the nurse before going ahead with any baking or purchasing any items.) Before bringing in ANY food item, we ask that it be checked by the school nurse. All items approved by the nurse will receive a "Nurse Approved" sticker or similar notification.
If you have any questions, please contact our Health Office at 914-937-3600 x2217 or email at rssnurse@blindbrook.org.
